I’m in Germany at Christmastime, you know what that means…

Digital Detox in the Village

As we’re leaving for Germany this week, Shota and I ran off to Kakheti again last weekend to refresh and, of course, visit his sister.

The magical thing about venturing outside of Tbilisi is that you may as well be stepping back in time. Donkeys pull wooden carts loaded with fresh veg, plump pigs wait patiently outside butchers shops and groups of old men play checkers to pass the time.

Ten things that made me happy this week!

10 things nov

This week has been full of me trying to get organised so I’ve been making lists left, right and center. I’ve decided to sell some old fashion and design books I have at home as well as starting to use my other lens on my camera. So next time I’m home I’ll swap that and I’ll promise you higher-quality photos on here from there on after!

Despite the list-making (which does make me quite happy actually) I’ve been finding comfort in some other things too:

1: Pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup, pumpkin everything!

2: The lady who beamed at me in a shop for telling her that, thank you, I don’t want a bag.

3: An offer to be in a book which focuses on women who have traveled and lived abroad in their twenties! I’ll share when it’s published of course.

4: How happy the local dogs are to see me. I’ll pretend I’m just that likable but really it’s because I feed them…

5: Free tickets to the Tiger Lillies tonight! I’m excited, anything that involves the words ‘Brechtian Punk Caberet’ and ‘Pre-war Berlin’ is fine by me! My friend saw them in London and said it was a real show, like huge performances, dancing, costumes and comedy.

6: Yellow leaves against blue skies.

7: Speaking very bad Georgian in front of a bus load of people which provoked a man saying to his son to make sure he learns English well. Our neighbour works as a bus conductor and always wants to chat, which is entertainment for everyone else who rarely encounter foreigners, let alone foreigners attempting to speak Georgian.

8: Tea houses.

9: Face highlighter. I bought a tiny light gold and brown eyeshadow set and ended up using it as highlighter which looked amazing. I can see why people get addicted to it!

10: Julia Roberts. I watched Pretty Woman last night after too much human interaction during the day. So cheesy but my god, isn’t she the cutest?

How was your week? Tell me all about it!
